The art of persuasion

Time and again we are confronted with ideas which contradict our own. Sometimes who’s right and who‘s wrong can be an futile to determine, like liking a painting or disliking it. But other times we know we are not merely right but definitely right in trying to persuade the other side to come to our side. I think I should note that while trying to better everyone it should be known that the less we know the person our efforts will diminish like the Inverse-square law. Also this is a good time to register the effects you have on people, it can be concluded that less effect is due to poor persuasion or the person isn’t as close as you thought.

In my life when I have tried to teach, which is another form of persuasion and yes teaching isn’t just Tabula rasa the student has lots of ideas of their own, and the romantic notion of Apprentice and Master is just like I said romantic and something we see very little of outside novels and movies.

If I knew what was the art of persuasion was… well I wouldn’t be writing here instead I might be preaching the next best religion that I had just created. But what is wrong I can write about. So in the future when the need arise I won’t do my mistakes all over again. Like some wise person said

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

The incomplete list of wisdom is as follows…

  1. The harder you push the harder it will push back
  2. You can catch more bees with honey than vinegar
  3. If you don’t believe you are God don’t act like it!
  4. Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent quit before you get there
  5. Quit while you're ahead “Rome was not built in one day”
  6. KISS (keep it it simple stupid)
  7. (Hostile) Outbursts or condescending remarks are proof that you hit the nail, but don't keep banging Remember item 5 as well as 1-6.

This list is far from complete also it is important to see the spirit of the list versus letter of the list.
